A while ago I saw some blogger children's book reviews by Polly on Twitter. I asked if I could send her a parcel of Fleas and I'm delighted to say she liked them and posted this review on blogger and twitter:

So with my first blogger review, I'm ready for a rush. I'm republishing Royal Fleas soon under my publishing name of Scarlett Inc. There's not much difference, except a few tweaks and the colours will hopefully print in a more vibrant mode.
Here's me and my trusty radio, working on Wally and Bert and listening to Radio Solent. I really need to tidy up!!
Howdy Lovely People
Welcome to the slightly eccentric world of Scarlett Inc.

Happy Easter Bunnies
Happy Easter Bunnies
and a very Fabulous British Summertime!
Being as we are now officially in summer, and yet the temperature is still ZERO DEGREES outside, I thought I'd post a happy, sunny, warm picture which might act in the same way as a rain dance produces precipitation. Bring on the sun!

Spring Equinox
Well, who'd have thought it was Spring! After today, the days are longer than the nights, which is all good by me, but did you know it has been the coldest March for 60 years? I hope that the long and dismal winter means we're going to have a fabulous summer.
I've been busy getting ready for doing a book signing at Babushka in Shanklin and also this weekend at Quay Arts in Newport for Pedlars on the Quay.
I've had a few days off as my Mum has been poorly, so I've been doing quite a lot of brow mopping and dressing gown finding, but I'm pleased to say that things are on the up and she is being well looked after. Today I went on a trip to the Library in Newport with the year 4's at Barton and I'm back there on Friday to read Wally and Bert to them. They helped me enormously when I was writing the book and their findings on Best Friends are in the front end and the animal best friend pics are in the back.
This is a picture I have been working on called Rockabye Baby. I was thinking about how it would be lovely to fall asleep in a woodland and looked after by hedgehogs, squirrels and owls. I really like the orange light from the chinese lanterns against the sky colour of the coming night.

Ready Teddy Go!
The start of the 'Fairs' season is upon us. Sunday sees the first show we've done since November, so today I've been lurking in the shed looking for tables and picture cradles. I discovered a rather unpleasant leak that has been dripping most of the winter and a spider's web inside a welly.
I'm pleased that my 'point of sale' boxes are going well and you will soon be able to have a gander at my books in the following places:
Babushka, Shanklin
Briddlesford Lodge Farm shop, Wootton
Soon to be in Random Remnants Ventnor
Fairs booked so far:
I Love Wight Spring Market, Brickfields Ryde 3rd March 10.30-3.30
Pedlars on the Quay, Quay Arts 24th March 11-4pm
Robin Hill Garden Show 27-28 April
IoW County Fair 29 June
Chale Show 3-4 August
If you are a shop owner and you would like to talk to me about having my books in your shop, you can email me or find me on twitter or faceache. Book, I mean.

Wally and Bert, on their way!!
The children at Barton will be excited to see their work in print soon. Wally and Bert BFFs has passed it's proof reading sessions with the dogs and we all think it's ready to be launched on the public.
The real Wallydog is cross that Wally in the book looks nothing like him. But I distract him from his melancholy but saying 'BISCUITS'.
I first thought of the characters in the book when out walking the real Wallydog, who's tail persistently taps him on the back when he's got a little jaunt in his step. He kept turning round to see who was doing it, not realising it was his own tail. Thus was born the character of Bert, the dog's best friend who is at least twice as clever as the actual dog himself.
In this story, they step in for their housemate and chum Blenda, who is too ill to go to work. They go instead and spend the afternoon with Mr Wong at the Chinese Restaurant. It all goes a bit pearshaped though, when Wally loses his concentration.....

Feeding the Birds wearing New Hedgehog Earmuffs
Here's a picture that you can buy either framed in a white box frame, or just mounted. I have it on my Etsy and Folksy sites, but looking out of the window on made me think of it as there are bird feeders on the apple tree right outside.
I like to think the little fairy got her earmuffs as a Christmas present from FC himself, as a thankyou for helping with the 2012 season.
FYI the hedgehogs like to help.
I've decided to have a FIVE DAY SNOWY BONANZA and sell the mounted prints for £6 plus p&p (£2.50). All you have to do is check out the Folksy site on
http://folksy.com/shops/julesmarriner
Go on! treat yourself to some snowy quirky art!
This Bonanza will self destruct on 22nd January.
PS If you want a box frame version, email me.
